Book Review of The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson
This much heralded book rocketed up to the top of my reading pile after watching the finely crafted A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I was expecting some twists and turns but I was not expecting to be so riveted to the plot that I was devouring pages to find out what had actually happened. The narrator, Bel is a little tricky to like off the mark, but she grew on me and the world around her gets more complicated. Sixteen years ago, Bel's mother mysteriously disappeared leaving her in the back seat of car to be discovered. Now present day, Bel and her family are participating in a documentary about the missing mother when she reappears. The opening is a little slow but once the threads start to layer the rollercoaster picks up speed.
I won't spoil any more of this delicious plot and the wild roll out. Holly Jackson is a master of writing the unreliable narrator and the pacey plot that digs its claws in and doesn't let you go. Five Stars.
